  Coen+Partners was founded 27 years ago to design great projects with architects and clients. Today, we have evolved into a Landscape Architecture and Urban Design firm that is driven by the challenges of developing the urban public realm in a beautiful, timeless, and place-specific way. Our work is rooted in context, authenticity, and the resolved belief that less is more.Our design approach for all projects is rooted in context and collaboration. We seek to understand place and program in a way that allows design solutions to emerge naturally. The result is a process that integrates disparate site elements and ideas into a cohesive whole.Our work is collaborative. We understand that complex urban problems cannot be solved with one perspective and benefit from a deep dive by multiple disciplines at the same time. We structure collaboration or maximum value to the client – that is to say, we know when to make decisions with the best information we have, and when to dig deeper for that yet-undiscovered solution.We find inspiration in the immediate, local, and regional context and, most importantly, the people who will use them. Our work reflects the communities in which we work; and we only work with others whose work reflects the same. In 2015, Coen+Partners received the National Design Award in Landscape Architecture from the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum, to honor the lasting achievement in American design. In addition, Coen+Partners is regarded by the AIA, the ASLA, the GSA Design Excellence and the editorial staff of influential publications such as Metropolis, Dwell, and Architectural Record and the New York Times.
