Research InternInfoscitex Corporation May 2020 - Dec 2020Worked in the Multi-Domain Sensing Autonomy Division of the Air Force Research Lab (AFRL)• Implemented deep learning methods to classify modulations in radio frequency signals emitted from mobile targets.• Applied transfer learning to a real world data set and deployed model to edge device (NVIDIA Xavier) with TensorRT.• Fused data modalities (radio, acoustic, seismic, EO, IR, etc.) to improve detection and tracking capabilities on moving vehicles.• Co-authored paper published in SPIE Defense + Commercial Sensing 2021 -
Undergraduate ResearcherUniversity Of Minnesota Apr 2019 - May 2020Greater Minneapolis-St. Paul AreaWorked on the NOvA Experiment at Fermilab.• Performed analysis of NOvA detector and Monte Carlo data to develop experimental results. Researched and presented 5+ studies on neutrino interaction cross sections.• Constructed new method for evaluating systematic uncertainty on resonant interactions, implemented in the NOvA 2020 analysis.• Presented results to NOvA collaborators at bi-weekly meetings and a poster tofaculty and students at the University of Minnesota Undergraduate ResearchSymposium.Recipient of Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) scholarship at U of Minnesota for a related study in Spring 2020, see poster presentation: https://ugresearch.umn.edu/symposium/presenters/shane-macdonaldWorked in the High Energy Physics group under advisement of Prof. Pawloski on data analysis from Fermilab experiments such as NOvA (NuMI Off-axis ve Appearence) to better understand neutrino and antineutrino oscillation properties. Analysis of cross sections was accomplished through utilizing the GENIE event generator to construct Monte Carlo machine learning based predictions to compare with detector data. -
