I moved from BBVA’s Design and Development team to the Retail Credit Risk Team as the deployment of Alnova is winding down and the successful implementation of FTDL into the production environment. I am currently focused on the deployment, management and development of Equifax’s Strategy Manager (SMG3) into our environment.SMG3 allows the prototyping, raid development / testing and implementation of scorecards and strategies without traditional development overhead. This role is allowing me to learn more about retail credit risk as well as leverage my consulting and technology background.

I started at BBVA as a lead developer / analyst with our data warehouse department. In this role I developed ETL solutions with Informatica for our Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW). This included not only the ETL work but the automation, monitoring and production support. The EDW was an Oracle DB with all automation done on UNIX via shell scripts.As BBVA Compass started designing the strategy to implement Alnova, it was identified that a transformation service was needed as part of the nightly batch to supply legacy interfaces with near the same interfaces / values. I was selected as the lead developer / architect for this service (FTDL).I built out a team of 3 analyst and 4 - 5 developers. This team was consistently identified as a high performing team within the Alnova project. Together we developed over 100 interfaces from start to finish including all job automation and monitoring. Due to flexible and parameter driven automation over 500 nightly jobs were put into production and ran under 7 shell scripts via Control-M. Our environment included Cobol / EBCDIC / Comp-3 sources, Oracle staging and Cobol / Flat File targets. All development was accomplished in Informatica, Shell and SyncSort.

I joined Bruno’s as part of the effort to decouple Bruno’s from BI-LO. This was an extremely fast paced project. When I walked into the door in November 2007 we did not have a single system installed in our offsite datacenter and were fully operational with all our stores by the summer of 2008. My primary role was systems architect responsible for ensuring the new systems could communicate and operate. I managed a team of contracting technologists to ensure we ported over what was needed and removed what was not. This included porting our Intranet from ColdFusion to SharePoint, while maintaining legacy PDF forms using a custom solution we wrote in C#.

Developed and Maintained Automated Unit Muster Recall Roster. Developed database to track unit training requirements. Awarded Joint Service Achievement Medal for database work performed in conjunction with the Missile Defense Agency, Air Force and NATO.

As a senior consultant at CGI I was fortunate to work on several projects in a number of industries and technologies. These roles included requirements gathering, architect, developer, DBA, testing automation and production support. The industries and technologies included telecom, finance and VoIP ventures with a mix of Unix, Windows, Oracle, Java, XML, Weblogic, VoIP / SIP, SharePoint as well as proprietary software. The projects included a mix of traditional waterfall SDLC all the way to pure Agile. In addition to normal consulting duties I was fortunate to have worked on some teams with younger team members where I was able to work as a mentor helping new members learn internal practices as well as technologies.
