About Shannon Kaplan

With more than 20 years of experience as an engineer in the construction industry, I still love being part of teams who design amazing building projects. I have spent the first 15 years of my career as an engineer focused on lighting and electrical design for buildings with a specific focus in sustainable buildings and renewable energy systems. In 2017, I had an opportunity to gain experience in corporate operations and staff learning and development which I also took on. I now split my time between my focus in operations and learning and my role as a leader at AKF in renewable energy and lighting design. In my design leadership role, I oversee all Renewable Energy Systems designs at AKF and oversee the lighting design team at Lightcraft - AKF's Architectural Lighting Design division. In my role in Operations, I currently am the Director of AKF Institute (our corporate university), manage large scale change initiatives, worked on process improvements, and manage several software platforms including our ERP program, Project Information Management program, and company intranet. I am a licensed professional engineer in PA, NY, MD, DE, NV, and DC, a LEED Accredited Professional, and Deltek Vantagepoint CRM certified
