The Health Specialist role within the wellbeing team was a dynamic role responsible for executing the Iron Ore wellbeing strategy. The role required flexibility, strategic thinking and the ability to develop solutions to complex problems. Strong engagement and influencing skills were important in order to build relationships with stakeholders and achieve successful outcomes. A focus of the role was developing and implementing key wellbeing strategy projects and initiatives across Rio Tinto Iron Ore. The key deliverables had both internally and externally facing audiences. The provision to customers of subject matter expert support and advice in the areas of health, wellbeing and fitness for work was a key component of the role.- Delivery of key projects for deployment across multiple sites and divisions across Iron Ore - Development of key initiatives to support Iron Ore wellbeing strategy including critical incident response protocols - Evaluation of tender proposals for the integrated facilities management service contract to provide town and village services across Iron Ore (10 year contract duration) - Subject matter expertise and support for Iron Ore for fitness for work (including alcohol and other drugs; fatigue; mental health) and mental and physical wellbeing- Strategic thinker and problem solver to develop unique solutions for complex problems- Strong communication and presenting skills

Responsible for leading a team of injury management advisors who provided site injury management support for work related and non-work related cases. Review of injury management cases and other aspects of the injury management process including claims review and return to work programmes to ensure cases were tracking appropriately. Oversight and review of pre-employment and periodic medicals and preparation of injury/ illness classifications. Provided occupational health and hygiene and fitness for work support, coaching and mentoring to site based health and safety personnel. Development and delivery of health and hygiene projects within Iron Ore.- Risk assessment facilitator- Subject Matter Expert Occupational Health and Hygiene- Led and managed a team of injury management and health advisors- Auditing of health and safety standards- Preparation of injury/ illness classifications
