Shanti Raghavan is a social entrepreneur and her work in disability has led to a changed narrative for persons with disability as change makers and nation builders. She has been recognized as the Schwab Social innovator 2020 (Schwab Foundation is the sister concern Of World Economic Forum), Business Today Most powerful women category (2017). Ashoka fellowship (2005), NITI Aayog Women Transforming India (2022) and more. Shanti has been a speaker at the World Economic Forum and has attended the annual meeting at Davos in May 2022 representing social innovators from India in different forums and committees. She has been featured in many coffee table books She now works for systems change applied to the size of the population. Her pioneering work includes her thought leadership on the purple economy (a new term coined by her - separate from the one defined by UN) which shows the potential of millions of jobs for all citizens in the purple (disability) sector. Her insight is that “disability is poised where healthcare was 300 years back. Hence there is tremendous potential for the purple sector to grow by having large scale systems which will provide jobs for many citizens (non disabled and disabled persons).. India can lead the world in disability excellence”. At human level, her insights have led to the "IncludabilityTM" quotient (IncQ), which defines the competency to maximize value across any kind of difference. This has led to norm shifting where leaders now work towards becoming better people managers. Shanti stresses that IncQ is as important as IQ and EQ. Shanti's experience started with her brother becoming blind at a young age leading to a 30 year journey with rich grassroots experience. Enable India impacts livelihoods across 19 disabilities in urban and rural India where more than 3,50,000 stakeholders including persons with disability have benefitted across 28 states of India as well as parts of the world such as Mauritius, Sweden, Ethiopia and Chile. Under her leadership, Enable India has built public goods, models and frameworks, collaborative platforms for rural and urban India and has worked on a collective and systemic approach to scale across the country and world and many products and innovations are being replicated across the world. 45% of Enable India’s team (including second line leadership) are persons with disabilities.
