A.V.I.D. COORDINATORCommunity Relations• Serves as liaison among college admissions offices, community organizations and students• Organizes college tours and visits from college representatives • Maintains partnerships and recruits students for the following early college awareness programs: TRIO (Minority Access), Way2GoMD and First Generation College Bound (FGCB)• Established and oversaw the school’s first college fair with more than 12 colleges and universities • Organizes and schedules guest speakers to share their educational and professional background • Manages the implementation of WWMS’s annual Financial Literacy Day via partnerships with Bank On Our Future and Capital One BankProgram Planning & Development• Develops, implements and oversees WWMS’s A.V.I.D. program and conducts professional development sessions on AVID methodologies• Identifies, plans and implements A.V.I.D.’s 11 essentials to ensure WWMS became compliant and achieved and maintains its National AVID Certified School status• Analyzes, maintains and records student data to guide decision-making • Collaborates with feeder schools to articulate program and recruit students• Facilitates AVID meetings to provide information to AVID’s national center and receive and evaluate feedback about the program• Monitors, evaluates, and trains AVID tutors from University of Maryland College Park• Selected for leadership positions at WWMS, including School Planning Management Team (2008-2014), Leadership Team (2012-2014), and DataWise Team (2012-2014)Teaching and Evaluation• Conducts instruction on and supervises students creating accounts on the college and career readiness platform, ConnectEdu• Administers ReadiStep assessment to 8th grade students• Instructs a variety of lessons including: issues affecting the community, the achievement gap, college and career research, goal setting, Cornell note taking, financial literacy, philosophical chairs
