Sharon Addison currently serves as the Director, Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation (FMWR) at Fort Drum, New York. She is responsible for planning and executing FMWR programs, services and activities supporting Soldiers and Families, DoD Civilians and Retirees. She serves as the Garrison Commander's technical expert and representative for all FMWR activities. Ms. Addison executes FMWR's Action Plans supporting Army Material Command's (AMC), Installation Material Command's (IMCOM) and Fort Drum's Strategic Priority 1.0, Soldiers, Civilians and Family Readiness. She develops the annual Non-Appropriated Funds budget and Five-year Recapitalization Plan in accordance with Command Guidance. Ms. Addison leads a highly skilled workforce of more than 280 employees responsible for delivering quality programs and services within Child and Youth Services, Business and Community Recreation, and Support Services organizations. She continues to champion social justice and proudly teamed to establish Fort Drum's STARBASE Academy in 2022 to provide enduring Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education and technologies and positive experiences with Soldiers and Army careers to underserved youth in our community. Ms Addison began her professional career at the National Security Agency (NSA) in 1985 after graduating from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Potsdam, where she served in a variety of analytic, program management, and managerial positions, including an overseas tour in the United Kingdom during her 27 year tenure. She resigned from civil service as a GS-15 and deferred retirement to pursue other opportunities. In July 2012, she returned "home" and served as City Manager of Watertown, New York through May 2018. During her tenure as Chief Executive Officer for the City, Ms. Addison championed social justice in Watertown and volunteered with several non-profit organizations. She established the Food 4 Families Backpack Program with the Watertown City School District and Northern New York United Way and served as co-chair of the Board. She also served as the Board President for the Jefferson County Victims Assistance Center; a Board Member for the North Country Family Health Organization; and, as the City of Watertown's lead for the $1 million Anti-Poverty Grant.Ms. Addison earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Computer Science from SUNY Potsdam. She is a native of Scotia, New York and embraces Northern New York and the Saint Lawrence River as home. She is the proud mother of Brennan, Mckayla and Kiara.
