Throughout my career in teaching, learning management and support in a variety of settings I have developed a deep appreciation for the importance of mental health awareness and training. I believe Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training to be invaluable for people across all walks of life. Indeed I have found this to be the case in my own professional life as a learning manager, enabling me to better support students and colleagues, and also in my private life to support my friends and family. There have been many instances in recent years where I have been able to confidently apply the strategies I have learned to provide Mental Health First Aid to someone in distress or even contemplating suicide. Increasing my own knowledge and skills has empowered me to become personally more committed to championing people’s efforts to become more inclusive and to reduce the stigma that surrounds mental ill-health.I am now able to deliver the Adult 2 day MHFA course and the half day Adult Refresher course online
