As an experienced health and safety professional who has been a key member of both site and senior leadership teams, I help businesses improve their health and safety practices, in a wide range of industries. Customer focused and with a pragmatic, collaborative approach, I bring health and safety to life by carefully balancing compliance requirements with staff engagement, to make a positive difference to organisations performance and culture. Results driven, I enjoy leading change and a challenge, am not afraid to try new ideas and passionately believe all workers have the right to go home healthy and safe, which I work hard to support. KEY ACHIEVEMENTS• Developed and communicated health, safety and wellbeing strategies and plans, which were well received by both the board and shop floor due to being comprehensive, yet easy to understand, which helped gain buy in at all levels.• Created simple yet effective health and safety management systems and tools, resulting in them being used.• Implemented software to standardise health and safety reporting and create better access to information e.g. PeopleSafe, Vault, Safe365.• Devised and delivered behavioural safety techniques, driving cultural change resulting in significant reductions in incidents.• Changed my approach to investigating incidents to the use of learning teams (where possible) which resulted in more engagement from staff and the decision to start using more “safety differently” techniques.• Led nationwide teams (both direct and indirect) to advance key initiatives and achieve desired outcomes.• Helped workers to adapt and meet changing organisational requirements, including through COVID and several business restructures.• Proactively represented organisations with external parties, including industry partners. For example, convinced Auckland Transport to set up a public transport working group to discuss common issues and share ideas to overcome them. Repeated with the racing industry so we could work together on overlapping PCBU duties. • Achieved AS/NZ4801, BSOHSAS18001, ISO14001 and ISO9001 accreditation, along with tertiary status in the ACC Partnership Programme. Worked towards implementing ISO45001.
