After decades in corporate communication leadership, I "retired" to earn a master's in mental health counseling and become a psychotherapist. As a Texas licensed LPC, I focus on helping couples, parents, women, and teens. I believe all people who face challenges in life are basically good and quite capable of figuring out what is right for them when they are given a safe place to explore and discover. It’s my job to trust in this universal innate process, facilitate it, and then just stay out of the way and let it work.My approach is based on creating a strong connection with clients and helping them recognize the interplay between their thoughts, feelings, and actions. I work with clients who are struggling with depression or anxiety or who are having trouble with the most important relationships in their lives. I have specialized training and experience in trauma-focused therapy and am a trained facilitator/educator for Parenting with Love and Logic as well as Teaching with Love and Logic. I am also Level-1 certified in Gottman Method Couples Therapy. My counseling experience comes from working as part of Children's Advocacy Center in Lewisville, Bricolage Behavioral Health partial hospitalization program in Flower Mound, and a private counseling group in Southlake--now I am in a solo practice in Dallas. In addition to my master’s in counseling from Texas A&M-Commerce, I bring to my work a ton of life experience that helps me understand people and situations. I’ve been a female executive in large corporations, an instructor for two universities, a nontraditional grad student, a divorced mom of two, a caretaker for an elderly parent, a community volunteer, and an advocate for children with disabilities.
