Monitoring changes to employment law and Business strategy (including Diversity and Equality specific areas), to assess the impact and amend current or create new guidance as necessary. Provide practical HR Policy, guidelines and tools.Consulting with the Leadership team, wider HR community and Stakeholders on new policy development.Providing advice and coaching for HR on complex problems or more unusual cases.Advising on the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA), latterly the Equality Act, Discrimination and Dignity at Work issues, flexible working, recruitment and attraction, sensitive case areas such as HIV cases, gender reassignment. Facilitating and training on HR Policy and Diversity to educate and upskill and support consistency of approach. Harmonisation of Core HR Policies (following merger). This also focused on the People experience and Organisational Culture. Developed pragmatic guidelines to reduce number of routine calls to HR Advisers leaving space for more complex case handling and management training. Responsibility for policy and advisory work that has Company wide impact on staff or has cultural implications or sensitivities e.g. disability confidence, adverse weather, swine flu, flexible working. Attended networking groups to compare & contrast approaches.Diversity Benchmarking activity including Stonewall Workplace Index and Disability Standard (Business Disability Forum). Writing reports, presentations, to escalate issues, achieve sign off and identify key requirements.
