About Shashank Verma

As a passionate astrophysics and engineering enthusiast, I am currently a Project Engineering Intern at Fringe Metrology, where I am at the forefront of developing a dual-camera metrology system to measure the surface flatness of radio dishes. This project, part of Phase 1 of an SBIR grant, involves designing and assembling hardware using Arduino and Blackfly S cameras, developing synchronization and image processing algorithms in MATLAB, and conducting extensive testing to ensure accuracy and repeatability. My work is driving the creation of a prototype that meets industry needs for precise surface measurement. In addition to my role at Fringe Metrology, I contribute to the SuperLotis Project at Kitt Peak National Observatory. My responsibilities include acquiring and analyzing data like dark and bias frames, writing camera communication code in C, and conducting quantum efficiency measurements for the telescope's cameras. These efforts are crucial for automating the UArizona SuperLotis Telescope and enhancing its capability in detecting optical counterparts of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs).Before these roles, I completed an internship as a Design Intern at Paradox AI and contributed to research on NASA's Aspera Mission, focusing on galaxy formation and evolution. My proficiency in MATLAB, C programming, and camera systems, combined with hands-on experience in space exploration projects, positions me as a valuable asset in both research and industry applications. I am committed to advancing space exploration and technology and look forward to contributing to groundbreaking projects that push the boundaries of our understanding of the universe.
