Responsible for the idea, design, creation and implementation of the first day school for deaf and hard-of-hearing children in over 100 years within North America.• Led the efforts creating a new Charter School (K – 8th grade) for deaf and hard-of-hearing students using American Sign Language (ASL) and teaching English as a second language completely from the ground up. • The primary purpose is to empower students to develop a sense of identity and pride as Deaf persons while providing them the skills and knowledge to succeed as global citizens.• In 1993, MDS started with 12 students – this coming Fall the pre-Kindergarten – 12th grade program will support more than 100 students.
