Updated code for coupling a Dynamic Global Vegetation Model (DGVM) to the Weather Research and Forecasting Model (WRF). Ran coupled model on the Deepthougth2 supercomputer at UMD. Developed new data pre-processing methods for improving the DGVM output. Analyzed carbon dioxide transport and concentration output for the Baltimore/Washington, DC region. Analyzed carbon uptake from the DGVM and validated against ground sensor measurements. Built and tested low cost carbon dioxide sensors. Deployed sensors around the Baltimore/Washington D.C. region to measure carbon dioxide concentrations on a high spatial scale. Analyzed trends in carbon dioxide concentration around the Baltimore/Washington, DC region. Led over 20 students in undergraduate research projects related to sensor improvements and analyzing sensor data.

Researched seasonal time series correlations between temperature, relative humidity, and sea level pressure against atmospheric visibility for the United States using meteorological observations as well as interannual variability correlations. Developed Python code to perform autocorrelations across over 80 stations in the US for over 20 years to determine statistical significance of the effects of meteorological variables and air pollution. Applied statistical techniques for filtering bad observations from the analysis. Wrote a final honors thesis on the results and presented them in a seminar.

Worked with Dr. Toby Ault to study Megadrought in the Southwest and Central Plains using global climate model data. Converted Matlab code to Python for model data analysis. Performed simple statistical analysis on drought trends using PDSI.

Consolidated the NOAA Global Summary of the Day (GSOD) data set into NetCDF files for ease of use in analyzing atmospheric visibility data to understand regional pollution trends. Analyzed visibility and pressure data to show that atmospheric stagnation plays a crucial role in the abundance of atmospheric ozone and particulate matter in the atmosphere. This work was done with my advisor, Dr. Vaishali Naik, and was transitioned into my senior honors thesis.
