Lead and carry out regulatory audits of all NZ's certificated aerodromes against Civil Aviation Rules Part 139 operational and security requirements, as well as Part 100 Safety Management System requirements. Involvement in key policy implementation projects including Drug and Alcohol Management Programme (DAMP) and Civil Aviation Act 2023, engaging and driving change to the aerodromes sector of NZ aviation. Review and conduct aeronautical studies of the establishment and alteration of aerodromes and heliports. Educate non-certificated aerodromes on aviation industry best practices and the effective use of risk management methodologies. Conduct analysis of occurrence data, identifying trends and hotspots of focus to develop risk-based regulatory intervention approaches.

Manage and monitor the progress of three different sets of internal audit programmes to ensure the airport continues to maintain its three operational licenses to operate. Prepare, coordinate and facilitate external regulatory audits and visits undertaken by regulators, and present findings and overall outcomes to Airport senior management. Lead and contribute to continuous improvement projects spanning across multiple subject matter including aviation, fire, biosecurity, safety and organisational. Establish close working relationship with departmental and senior managers to cultivate strong operational and safe culture within its airport operations activities. Collaborate with senior managements of other key airport stakeholders to ensure overall compliance of airport activities against the relevant regulatory requirements.

Undertake operational and safety system audits to ensure the airport continues to be functional and meets regulatory requirements. Provide reporting to senior management on audit findings, overall outcomes and recommendations for continuous improvement initiatives. Lead a team of internal auditors to undertake operational and safety system audits. Liaise and maintain positive working relationships with various external airport stakeholders and internal operational departments to ensure a positive and safe culture is cultivated to ensure effectiveness and safety. Raise regulatory awareness amongst operational teams by translating complex rules and regulations to simple and engaging training materials with professional delivery.

Lead Airport Operations Officers in delivering key performance indicators. Lead and manage day of operations within the airport management. Engage with airport stakeholders in coordinated airport management and incident response. Coordinate multi-agency airport emergencies using CIMS-4 principles. Seconded twice to assume roles including Operations Workforce Planner to manage peak passenger volumes, and Operations Champion on the CCTV Upgrade Project.
