• Contributes to the strategic management of Operational Services as part of the district managementteam, and implements strategies to achieve corporate objectives.• Manages a station plan to support the regional plans and the Operational Services goals• Ensures operational preparedness and emergency response capability including personnel and alloperational resources placed under his/her control.• Responds to and commands, controls and coordinates operations at emergencies as required.• Manages the application of risk management and community safety strategies within the station workarea in accordance with organisational strategies and policy guidelines.• Responsible for the day to day management of the fire station and/or defined functions to support theeffective management of the fire station and associated resources.• Manages personnel assigned for duty at the fire station to maintain an effective crew to support thedefined activities of the station work area.• Ensures all personnel are trained for the functions they are required to perform, including operationaleffectiveness, in a safe and effective manner.• Completes risk management based inspections of risks within the station work area and proactivelymanages programs to reduce the levels of risk related to fire, rescue and hazardous materials usingcomprehensive emergency management principles.• Responsible for maintaining Equal Opportunity principles and practices in area of responsibility.• Implements and maintains organisational policies and operational SOP’s and SAP’s as required.• Carries out other duties as assigned.
