Technology Innovation ConsultantDepartment For Environment, Food And Rural Affairs Oct 2014 - Jan 2022Bristol, England, United KingdomIn this role I worked with all business areas of Defra Group to look at how innovative technology solutions can enable the organisation to work in more efficient and effective ways. This was a strategic role aimed at driving change by understanding and exploring which emerging technologies Defra should adopt in the long term to achieve its outcomes. On a daily basis, this job involved horizon scanning new technology and, in parallel, understanding our organisation and its business challenges as well as its vision for the future. These are then matched together leading to business-led trials of new technologies followed by an evaluation of their success and a recommendation for further strategic implementation. These technologies could be anything from machine learning and AI to digital twins and augmented reality so it was important in this post to learn and understand new technologies and their potential benefits quickly, and then be able to explain them and their potential benefits to business colleagues so we can work together to explore them.On a day to day basis this role involved managing a number of innovation consultancy and practical exploration initiatives with high profile stakeholders as well as informing roadmaps and strategies for technology introduction and adoption. -
