Service Owner - Microsoft Power Platform
My current role is focussed on unlocking the benefits of Microsoft's Power Platform within Defra Group. My core objectives are to increase the pace of delivery, create a transparent service offer and ultimately enable the business to deliver both small low risk and large critical solutions on the platform with minimum friction. In this role I have built a strategic and technical foundation for Power Apps/Automate in Defra Group (37k employees) including:- Designing and implementing an adaptive governance model and associated environment strategy- Setting architectural guardrails and principles for the usage of Power Apps/Automate in Defra Group- Designing new appropriate DLP policies and implementing them- Installing and customising the Centre of Excellence Starter Kit to automate monitoring and management of the platform- Driving adoption of the platform through regular communication, business sponsorship and our incredible Community of Practice- Building and managing the team to deliver this service- Managing the roadmap for the technology, researching and prioritising new featuresThroughout my time in this role I have also regularly shared our experiences as early adopters of this technology, both to other government departments and at conferences including the European Power Platform Conference (2023 & 2024), South Coast Summit (2023) and Scottish Summit (2024).
Technology Innovation Consultant
In this role I worked with all business areas of Defra Group to look at how innovative technology solutions can enable the organisation to work in more efficient and effective ways. This was a strategic role aimed at driving change by understanding and exploring which emerging technologies Defra should adopt in the long term to achieve its outcomes. On a daily basis, this job involved horizon scanning new technology and, in parallel, understanding our organisation and its business challenges as well as its vision for the future. These are then matched together leading to business-led trials of new technologies followed by an evaluation of their success and a recommendation for further strategic implementation. These technologies could be anything from machine learning and AI to digital twins and augmented reality so it was important in this post to learn and understand new technologies and their potential benefits quickly, and then be able to explain them and their potential benefits to business colleagues so we can work together to explore them.On a day to day basis this role involved managing a number of innovation consultancy and practical exploration initiatives with high profile stakeholders as well as informing roadmaps and strategies for technology introduction and adoption.
Senior Strategy Consultant
Mubaloo was a bespoke enterprise mobile application software developer. In my role as a Strategy Consultant I worked with clients to scope, plan and ultimately deliver their mobile strategies along with other members of the team. This role involved working very closely with a wide range of high profile clients from a broad range of industries and understanding their business vision so we could align technology solutions to meet their goals. This role involved a great deal of formal workshops, dissecting complex and often technical briefs and working with a big team to help innovate and inspire and ultimately meet the client’s goals.
Digital Project Manager
For two and a half years, I worked at a successful B2B marketing agency developing and rolling out campaigns for large technology clients including Toshiba, EMC and Microsoft. In this role I worked on a variety of interactive projects, from international product sites and lead generation campaigns to user group frameworks and videos. This role helped me to develop a good understanding of digital development techniques as well as in depth knowledge of the B2B IT products we were marketing.
Loyalty Marketing Executive
This role involved administrating the frequent flyer programme andcredit card run by Flybe’s marketing office. On a daily basis this job involved proofing copy for email sends, dealing with high level customer queries and complaints, organising and maintaining data and developing partnerships to support marketing activity. In this role I reported into the Digital Marketing Manager and gained an overview of digital marketing strategies including Flybe’s successful affiliate program.
