Organ Recovery Coordinator
CurrentThe organ recovery coordinator is responsible for the coordination of activities associated with the recovery and utilization of organs for transplantation. This includes fulfilling an extensive, responding to initial donor referrals, evaluating potential donors, obtaining family consent, completing medical/social history forms, and providing donor management until the primary organ recovery coordinator assumes care.• Responds to all donor referrals promptly and appropriately by telephone and/or on-site according to Recovery Services Policies and Procedures.• Obtains accurate medical information for evaluation of potential organ and tissue donors according to TOSA/UNOS/CDC guidelines• Discusses organ donation options with family member(s) of potential donors and obtains informed consent for organ donation where applicable.• Coordinates referrals with the regional TOSA coordinator and ICU staff.• Verifies that all medical-legal documentation is completed according to TOSA/UNOS/CDC guidelines.
