Uganda

• Taught reading to Early Grade Learners aged between 7 - 15 through synthetic phonics instruction, shared reading and comprehension instruction. These lessons were taught over two months in daily 40-minute lessons to students grades 3-6.• Implemented DEAR Day (National Ugandan Drop Everything And Read Day) to a school of 760 students. Engaged the entire school in literacy projects using local materials and a series of games that highlighted phonemic awareness, alphabetic principle, and comprehension of the story. Instructed creative writing and short story prompts to upper primary students.• Completed ten weeks of training that included 40 hours of cultural training, 125 hours of technical teaching instruction, and 32 hours of health and safety training including AIDS education.

• Recruitment and Vetting: Increased application submissions by 78.8%. Worked in partnership with the Department of State and other organizations to recruit applicants. Coordinated vetting of a diverse pool of 10,000 applications from 150 countries each year from mid-career international professionals.• Pre-arrival: Acted as the main point of contact for over 70 global emerging leaders from over 40 countries as they began their Fellowship. Managed pre-arrival process for Fellows including visa procedures, travel, housing and all other logistical coordination. Improved experience of Fellows by providing support in social, professional and personal spheres before they arrived and throughout the duration of their Fellowship. • Volunteer management: Managed 100 volunteers. Coordinated training materials and acted as the main point of contact for volunteer support. Managed a team of 6 interns, conducting weekly check-ins and assigning projects.
