Principal Budget Analysts must demonstrate a thorough understanding of budgets of assigned agencies, including technical aspects and policy issues; assist agencies in the preparation of budget requests; produce budget analyses that involves a cost benefit review of goals, objectives, and performance measures; conduct cashflow analyses of funding and expenditures; prepare thorough written budget analyses; present state agency budget requests and analyses to the Governor; assist the Governor in formulating budget recommendations; monitor legislative action on the Governor’s budget recommendations throughout the legislative session; prepare fiscal notes on pending legislation in accordance with statutory requirements; assume various roles on assignments covering broad issues; and complete ad hoc projects as requested.
