Small Business Specialist
CurrentMaintain, coach, and guide firms of SBA 8(a) Business Development Program. Provide business development assistance to small businesses regarding federal socio-economic government contracting programs. Monitor performance of participating firms to ensure compliance with the firm’s participation in the 8(a) BD program. Provide written feedback to support and address the firm’s gaps in areas of contract sourcing, business capture and marketing assistance, financial consultation and provide guidance regarding business growth and development. Advise on recruiting, training, education, and development of small businesses interested in working with the government or with prime contractors, by utilizing procurement laws, regulations, policies and procedures. Assess the needs of assigned firms and identify suitable business development and capacity building opportunities in government contracting/procurement. Advise businesses on obtaining Federal, State, and local prime and/or sub-prime contracting opportunities. Provide advice and counseling to assist firms in the development of realistic and attainable objectives for their business regarding federal contracting/procurement.Evaluate participants’ performance against business plans and compliance with business activity targets, and subsequent monitoring Remedial Action plans as needed. Provide advice, counsel, and guidance in the areas of marketing to federal government and contract administration. Assist and support the firm’s self-marketing efforts. Actively engage with firms to foster relationship and further opportunities to access financing for business growth. Promote SBA organization’s programs and services through outreach and marketing. Developing and delivering outreach, training, presentations, education, and development on subject matters. Build and maintain collaborative strategic alliances and economic development programs with resource partners, economic development organizations and small business owners.
