Worked as a member of the Speech-Language Pathology team at UCMC for a summer externship placement. By the end of this placement I was able to perform independent evaluation and treatment for speech, cognition, and swallowing. I was also able to assist with Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluations of Swallowing (FEES) and executed Video Flouroscopic Swallow Studies (VFSSs) with minimal supervision. Due to UCMC's status as a level 1 trauma center I was able to treat patients with acute and rare conditions and frequently work with individuals in the medical ICU, surgical ICU, neurologic ICU, cardiac ICU, emergency department, and individuals on the general floor.
