Mr. MacDonald is currently a manager with Shared Services Canada, a federal department mandated to deliver email, data centre and telecommunication services to federal departments and agencies (Partner Organizations). Prior to this position he was the Product Development Manager at DiscoveryGarden Inc. (DGI). He joined DGI in January 2012 on education leave from Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) where he served as A/Director of the Department’s Project Management Office. This position was pivotal in strengthening the department’s project management and project governance disciplines. This assignment involved establishing and maturing the Project Management Centre of Excellence and Departmental Investment Board Secretariat.His career at VAC began in February 2000, and until June 2009 Mr. MacDonald served as Chief of IT Governance and Project Portfolio Management. This role brought stronger project management and project governance to the IT Division, focusing on IT projects and expenditures. Projects managed under this group included technology implementation and consolidation, IT vendor contract consolidation, enterprise system procurement and IT Service Management.Before joining VAC, Mr. MacDonald was the Manager of IT Systems Development and Maintenance with the Provincial Government of PEI responsible for the Province’s central IT systems. Prior to this he held progressive technology focused positions within the Provincial Government departments. Mr. MacDonald has been active in the IT industry holding Board positions with The Canadian Information Processing Society at both local and National levels and with the Innovation and Technology Association of PEI. Mr. MacDonald holds a MBA from the University of Prince Edward Island and a Diploma in Business Information Processing from Holland College .
