My long-term goal is to obtain a PhD and a professorship in Philosophy. In the meantime, I aim to maintain a professional role of holistic mentorship for undergraduate students. As a McNair Scholars Program alumnus myself, this is motivated by a strong desire to be useful to students of backgrounds underrepresented in higher ed who feel compelled to pursue careers through academia. It currently gives me great joy and a strong sense of fulfillment to be engaged with the McNair DePaul community, and I can only hope that this type of position or role is one that I continue to fill while I navigate my research. What I can do now, as a recent bachelor's recipient and graduate student, may appear quite different in nature to a professorship, but my guiding motivations are the same.My research is committed to articulating relationships between our experience and our epistemologies, our epistemologies and our ethics, and the relationship between our material conditions and our experience. The goal is to provide both critique of the current political structure of our society as well as a theoretical framework that rests on an understanding that does acknowledge the process by which knowing, being and social formations are all entangled reciprocally. Only by understanding ourselves will we understand how to best live.
