Few professionals personify the emerging mantra of STEAM like me. By blending my passions for science, technology, and the arts, I have crafted a successful career bridging the perceived divides across disciplines. A strong sense of curiosity and a desire to connect people around big ideas has driven me to seek out quite unique job opportunities. A few interesting highlights that illustrate my range of experience:• On multiple occasions I have utilized technology to achieve a greater social good including founding the most successful online platform to connect a community of cooks --> Allrecipes.com and launched a North American wide online citizen science network of naturalist to share observational data, maps, and stories to aid in the conservation of wildlife corridors --> Witness for Wildlife.• Communicating complex themes to an everyday audience have been a consistent element of my career. Feel free to ask me sometime how photographers harness photons to make pictures without using a camera, why CO2 which every person exhales and every plant inhales but then becomes an existential threat to all living things when too much is in the atmosphere, or why planting street trees can help school kids perform better during test-taking. • Public speaking is something I am very comfortable doing and have given presentations to audiences sized 4 to 400.• My entrepreneurial spirit once led me to start an enterprise that grew edible flowers for pastry chefs.• I harnessed my powers of collaboration to wrangle multiple international policy stakeholders to publish the inaugural North American Botanic Garden Strategy For Plant Conservation. • Turned 1,000,000 pounds of zoo animal dung into a much-coveted compost that gardeners far and wide lined up to acquire. • I believe in the power of data to tell stories that can help change the world and recently became a Certified Tableau Desktop Professional to better visualize these efforts.As a natural self-starter, I can take an idea and actualize it into a program or product, but I understand the importance of a team approach to achieve the concept’s full potential. I am strategic and mission-driven in my endeavors, but not too narrowly focused to enjoy life along the way. When I am away from work, I enjoy tending the dozens of potted plants on my patio; getting outplayed by my wife at dominos, volunteering citizen science time with Zooniverse, building my photography art collection and drinking the beverages crafted from the plants Coffea arabica, Camelia sinensis and Vitis vinifera.
