For over 30 years, I have been hard at work helping to unleash potential by fighting against ‘the inequality of opportunity’ in America today.I recognized early in my philanthropic work through meeting so many young people that it is not the will to succeed that is holding them back, it’s access to the right opportunities and the right supports. While I see the problems in our country, I also see the innovative solutions in the untapped potential within those that are often overlooked. Our goal is to activate this potential to catalyze the change we need to see.Recognizing that talent is everywhere, but opportunity is not, the Schultz Family Foundation is focused on applying lessons learned over decades to seed innovations and scale solutions that help young people successfully navigate the transition to adulthood by connecting them to good jobs – with a particular emphasis on the 4.6 million 16- to 24-year-olds who are not in school or working.We are humble enough to know that we cannot solve big problems on our own, which is why we actively engage the business community, as well as leaders from philanthropy, non-profits, and government, to develop multi-sector solutions that will allow everyone to access the full promise of America.
