Responsible for a broad range of tasks including: Code records by following prescribed coding standards such as ICD-9 and CPT, price and code trip tickets, assign appropriate medical codes to all diagnosis and services, prepare appropriate claim documents, follow up with insurance companies and ensure that all claims come to fruition and if not, then file appeals, assign ICD-9 to physicians diagnosis and insure correct level of service and various other CPT codes, accurately apply payments to patient accounts, ensures claims are entered and submitted with 48 hours of receipt, set up new patient accounts, follow up on insurance and patient aging, re-submit insurance claims as necessary, set-up practice management software for submission of electronic claims to clearinghouse. Work with clearinghouse to resolve file compatibility issues. Knowledgeable in timely filing restrictions and ensures office practices are in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Maintains patient confidentiality.
