Strengthening health systems and enhancing the public health supply chain are fundamental to the strategic objectives of Building Resilient and Sustainable Systems for Health (RSSH) within The Global Fund. A robust health product supply chain is particularly crucial, as it underpins the success of The Global Fund's mission to combat AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria. As such, the effective management and distribution of pharmaceuticals and other essential health products remain central to achieving these goals.In my role, I work closely with country teams and a diverse range of stakeholders to implement transformative health supply chain initiatives that directly contribute to The Global Fund's overarching objectives. I am currently leading the rollout of these initiatives in high-burden and high-impact countries across Africa and Asia, where the need for an efficient and reliable supply chain is most critical.Additionally, I collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to conduct comprehensive supply chain diagnostics in an additional 20 Global Fund-supported countries. These diagnostics are followed by targeted capacity-building efforts, which are tailored to each country’s specific maturity level, strategic priorities, and readiness to implement change. Through these efforts, we aim to strengthen national supply chains, ensuring that they can effectively support the delivery of life-saving health products and contribute to the overall resilience of health systems globally.

Botswana

In this capacity I was in charge of overseeing the management and coordination of the ART logistic and Data management unit for a PEPFAR funded Supply Chain Management System(SCMS) project in Botswana. This entails providing supervisory and management support to the LMU staff and involvement in the implementation of the medicine logistics system, quantification, procurement and distribution. I am also supporting the Management in using logistic data and in making correcting course of decisions including forecasting and supply planning update and resupply. Additionally, I am responsible to undertaking regular visits to the project sites, MOH, and Central Medical Store for quality assurance and providing relevant training and capacity building support to programme staff and government/stakeholders on implementation of Supply Chain Management best practices,needs assessments, health system strengthening stakeholder consultation and report writing. Furthermore, I am providing technical support to the design and management of programme evaluations, surveys and analysis of logistics data and effectively communicate findings to SCMS and MOH staff, donors and national stakeholders as required.

Bangladesh

Scope of Work• reviewed the procurement mechanisms of medicines and of medical consumables for their adequacy to the morbidity figures in clinics and CHSWs, flexibility and cost-effectiveness • conducted assessement of the quality and safety of storage at different levels •conducted assessement of the shelf-life of medicines and the date of expiration • outlined recommendations on effective quality-control procedures for medicines • conducted assessement of the cost effectiveness of the current procurement procedures in the context of UNDP CHTDF administrative regulation • Depending on the findings made recommendations on how to improve the current situation.

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

I was responsible to work with the MOH and PFSA to develop and implement Pharmaceutical Fund and Supply Agency/PFSA and LMD, transitioning from forced ordering min-max inventory control system to pull, reporting system. Additionally, established and effectively rolled-out data capturing tools to enable accurate and timely reporting of health commodity data through the development of mechanisms to capture patient-level and HIV/AIDS/Health commodities data, including data entry, data management, data quality assurance /Quality Improvement and distribution resource planning.• With two hats as a pharmaceutical logistics and PFSA Strengthening advisor, I provided strategic guidance to the project (fund over USD 150 million) by designing a cost effective logistics system, renovation of hubs, analyzing HIV/AIDS/health pharmaceuticals and patient data and identifying areas of strength and gaps in performance and advised the central stores and regional hub managers in ways to enhance programme successes towards targets;• I supported the Pharmaceutical Fund and Supply Agency (PFSA), a primary partner within the MOH responsible for procurement, storing and distributing all health commodities to public facilities, by developing the national HIV/AIDS and health commodities tracking system, an innovative and systematic technology to capture commodity and patient information to make reliable and timely data available for the decision makers; • Developed standard supportive supervision checklist and manual for Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement in more than 800 ART and PMTCT sites, 11 regional health bureaus; • Trained Health facility Data Clerks, warehouse managers and other responsible project staffs (total over 1,200 individuals) on Supply chain and management information System (MIS),Inventory Control System(ICS) etc;

My role in RPM Plus was to support the initiation and scale-up of free ART for the first time in Ethiopia through selection, quantification, procurement ,distribution planning, consumption and morbidity data collection, tracking of health facilities and introduce the state of the art quantification techniques for ARVs and test kits. This involves developing 24 month forecast ,Compiling ART commodity list, collecting patient statistics, mining data from ART policy documents, distribution planning, collaborating with partner and MOH in the scale up of ART programs nationwide.• Successfully led the implementation of a realistic and demand driven (evidence based) 24 month forecast and annual supply plan development, implementation and quarterly review and supply planning to support accurate procurement process and ensure product availability at all levels.• Provided support to PHARMID for the development of distribution plans and the management of the distribution of HIV/AIDS related commodities through PHARMID to the ART sites, for the redistribution of ARVs and related supplies and the maintenance of a comprehensive record of distribution.• Produced supportive supervision checklist and trained health facility personal on standard procedure for the proper tracking and reporting of commodity and patient data.• Worked as a member of donor coordinating committee and focal person for forecasting and supply planning.• Institutionalized forecasting and supply planning, tools like Orion, quantimed and pipeline at PFSA and MOH
