I have been a faculty member at OU for 36 years and am a David Ross Boyd Professor. I currently serve as the Director of the School of ISE, and Morris R. Pitman Professor. Prior to joining OU, I was a graduate assistant at UT Arlington and then Penn State University. I received my tenure and promotion to associate professor at OU in 1994, and was promoted to full professor in 1999. I was awarded the S.R. Noble Foundation Presidential Professorship in 1999, and the David Ross Boyd Professorship (the highest honor conferred for overall educational scholarship at OU) in 2004. Through a grant obtained from the State of Oklahoma's EDGE funds, I co-founded a company, SEAM Aero, LLC. The primary goal of this company was to help generate revenues and create jobs within the aerospace sector in the US. I also served as the Founding Director of the Center for Shape Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing (SEAM) at OU. I have received 25 Federally funded research grants including 14 from NSF. I have worked in the areas of manufacturing processes, machining theory, process tribology and process/product metrology for 40 years. I hold the unique honor of being named as a Fellow to three engineering societies: ASME, SME, and IISE. I was inducted into the OK Higher Education Hall of Fame in 2016. I was also recognized in 2009 as OK innovator of the year. I have served on the editorial boards of several journals and have organized many conference sessions. Through SEAM Aero, LLC, I worked with Aerospace businesses in the Southwest corridor of the US. I continue to apply cutting-edge technologies in Shape Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing to improve the Modernization, Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul industry. I currently work on manufacturing democratization and supply chain integration to assist small manufacturers in OK.

I served as the School’s Interim Director for two years prior to this (January 2017- December 2018). We have accomplished the following in these roles: • ABET ACCREDITATIONI have led the School successfully through two ABET Evaluations (2017, 2023). We were assessed with no Weakness or Concerns in our most recent evaluation in Fall 2023. In the six years between the evaluations, we have had the opportunity to build a great unit of faculty, staff and students. Our faculty strength, numbers of graduate students, and number of grants in force are the best the School has had in the past 60 years!I have led the School successfully through one Academic Program Review (APR) in Spring 2024. This is a eight year cycle at the University of Oklahoma • HIRINGOverseen the hire of 12 outstanding junior faculty members and one senior faculty member. Nine of these faculty are from underrepresented groups in Engineering • GROWTHHelped ISE procure two Chair positions in addition to other hires: Charles Jones Chair in Data Science and Analytics, and Madeline Pfau Chair in Systems Engineering Leadership. These two searches are underway. This will increase the ISE faculty strength to 20, 14 more than what I inherited in 2017.. • VISIBILITYPublicized the ISE program nationally. I was invited to co-lead discussions at the Council of ISE Academic Department Heads about engaging with alumni and industry. • INDUSTRY ACADEMIA COLLABORATIONChanged the diversity of industries represented in Capstone Design, and significantly increased the number of participating companies. • MENTORSHIP LEADERSHIPSuccessfully nominated several faculty and students for honors and awards, and mentored several undergraduates towards careers and graduate school.We are building a culture of mentorship. Improvements, collaborations, and mentorship in ISE have instilled a new sense of purpose in the junior faculty

From federal sources, I have received 14 grants from NSF, 10 grants and contracts from USAF, 3 contracts from DOT-FAA, 2 grants from NIST, and 1 grant from NASA. I have authored 175 technical manuscripts.4. I have taught over 5000 students in classes at OU. I have supervised 80 graduate student theses (MS and PhD), and supervised the research of over 200 undergraduate students.5. I have served on the editorial boards for the Journal of Manufacturing Systems and Journal of Manufacturing Processes (both of SME); Transactions of the ASME: Journal of Manufacturing Science and Engineering. I served on the Board of Directors for North American Manufacturing Research Institution of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (NAMRI/SME) (2008-2010) and as its Scientific Committee (SC) chair (chief editor) for 2 years. I have organized many conferences for ASME and SME.

I held the John Myers Professor ship until 2019.I am an elected Fellow of three engineering societies: American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), and the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE); and have served on the Board of Directors for the North American Manufacturing Research Institution of SME (NAMRI/SME). I have served on the editorial boards of Transactions of the ASME, Journal of Manufacturing Systems (SME) and IISE Transactions. I was the chief editor for the Transactions of the NAMRI/SME 2008-2010. I have initiated and built the manufacturing program at OU, designing new courses, developing labs and educational partnerships, and building a visible research program.I was inducted into the OK Higher Education Hall of Fame in 2016.
