Hi, I am Shivani I was one of those studious and sorted kid who knew that she wanted to do something in the field of medicine ever since I was 13. I moved to coastal town of Mangalore at the age of 17 to begin my formal education in MCODS, Mangalore. I learnt so much about the subject and my potential in these years. Mangalore will always be special, each time I take a walk down the memory lane. I truly feel “Those were the best days of my life” That happens if you spend a decade in a place/city. At the age of 20, I realized my passion for teaching and public speaking and gave umpteen scientific presentations in dental fraternity.I also discovered my aptitude to treat children in my junior residency and pursued masters in paediatric dentistry. While others felt it requires way too much patience to handle them, it was a gratifying experience for me. I can wake up every single day of my life and treat them. Either you become their favorite or you are not, there is no diplomacy there. That’s the best part about children, their innocence and honesty. I feel pediatric dentistry was not even a concept in India until few years back, because why care about milk teeth if they are going to fall off anyway. But what if I prompted you to think “As an adult you have many issues with your teeth, why so? What if I told you that the prevention begins from the time that the mother is expecting the child.How her hygiene affects the child? What if you did something that you were required to in your childhood to not end up with this. The least you can do is not let your child suffer later. Hence oral care at an early age is extremely important.Its not "JUST" about the teeth, we look at the overall growth and development of the child.Other than my profession, I feel I am a go to person for my friends. I always break down anything complex into simpler things, and then think of finishing it step by step.
