Shruti Nath Email and Phone Number
I completed my Ph.D. in Architecture at the University of Tasmania, Australia. As an Architectural Science researcher, I explored whether the contemporary code-compliant Australian wall systems promoted condensation and mould. My study emphasized the World Health Organisation’s discoveries that residential dampness is linked with a 50% increase in asthma rates. My research addressed a significant gap in knowledge about the relationship between the energy efficiency requirements in the Australian national building regulations and the occurrence of condensation and mould in new housing. I have used international hygrothermal and mould growth simulation tools to examine the condensation risk of commonly constructed wall systems in different Australian climate zones. I worked as a Research Assistant on a project in collaboration between the Victorian Building Authority, CSIRO, Master Builders Association of Victoria, University of Tasmania, Forest and Wood Products Australia, and the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics (IBP) in Germany. Before commencing my Ph.D., I taught for many years in Architectural colleges in India. I have worked as a teacher and unit co-ordinator at the International Pathway College, UTAS. I have been awarded the Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA) by the UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF), in recognition of professional practice for supporting teaching and learning in Higher education.

Doctoral ResearcherUniversity Of Tasmania Jul 2017 - Aug 2023Hobart, Tasmania, AustraliaThesis title - Hygrothermal and mould growth analysis of typical Australian residential wall systemsMy research funded by the Tasmanian government via CBOS, Department of Justice, focussed on hygrothermal and mould growth analysis of typical Australian residential wall systems. I simulated the selected wall systems in different Australian climate zones using international simulation tools and analysed the condensation risk and mould growth conditions of the NCC code compliant wall systems. -
