I am teaching a Master-level course as part of the Master of Food and Resource Economics (MFRE) program in the Faculty of Land and Food Systems at UBC. This course focuses on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, providing an in-depth understanding of how ESG influences sustainable business strategies within the global food systems sector. We will explore the impact of international frameworks like the UN SDGs, UNFCCC, CBD, and UNCCD on national policies and business regulations, incorporating real-world case studies, guest speakers, and hands-on activities to critically analyze corporate ESG strategies.

The Ancillary team is empowering the SFU community of 43,000 through Food, Retail, Mobility, & Events, on all three campuses. Our mission is to create an engaged & vibrant SFU community by enhancing the living and learning environment.

Responsible for leading Emerging’s consulting practice at the United Nations (UN) in food security, food systems for healthy diets, and corporate social responsibility. We focused on building & coordinating multi-stakeholder platforms, contributing to complex multilateral policy processes in the United Nations System, implementing global advocacy and communication campaigns, and above all building consensus in a world of complex expectations and evolving realities.

Compass Group is the largest foodservice company in the world and in Canada. As AVP Business Excellence, I was part of the executive leadership team reporting directly to the CEO. Led in-country strategy for driving same-store sales of retail operations of $250 million annually. We enhanced the consumer experience to drive sales through culinary innovation, branded partnerships with Tim Horton’s, Starbucks etc., staff training, consumer insights & engagement, and sustainability & wellness across various business sectors like education, business & industry, manufacturing, oil and gas and healthcare.

Accountable for operations within Alberta, North West Territories, Yukon and Nunavut serving remote sites in mining, refineries, and corporate offices. The portfolio included managing operations of camps (remote site accommodations) ranging from 50 to 8000 rooms, catering, cafeteria, retail operation, soft services, custodial services and facility management. Full P&L responsibility with a managed volume of $145 M annually. I lead the management of the Shell Real Estate contract in Canada which included offices, administrative buildings, camps, and operations sites.

In this role, I provided leadership, direction and support to three large projects CNRL, Shell Albian and Syncrude in the Canadian Oilsands. The projects included food and accommodation for 10,000 people and retail operations including Tim Horton’s. Total managed P&L of $100M Annually.

As Project Manager I provided day to day operational leadership to more than 250 unionized associate and led a team 15 mangers people on site to deliver a number of service in the Camp ranging from 100 beds to 5000 beds. The service portfolio included food service, accommodation, front desk, reservations, cafeterias, Tim Horton’s, licensed lounge and retail commissary. Total P&L accountability of $50M annually.

As a 20-year-old I was the youngest candidate to bid and win to conceptualize, develop and manage the food and beverage operations of FIA, a premier international school in the country. I was responsible for the supervision and management of all project stages including the co-ordination of engineering services, evaluation of tenders, and follow up on equipment manufacturer timelines. In addition, I managed the day-to-day activities of the kitchen and dining for 300 residents.

Responsible for conception to operations of the restaurant with 100 seats specialized in Fusion Indian Food. Secured capital through financial institute, managed construction and commission, day to day operations, QA, finance, menu development and marketing. Featured by National Television Network in Dec 2012 as the top three places to eat in the city.
