During my intership at the workplace I was able to cover the following things:- Starting with the basic design and architecture of the Ship Vessels and gaining knowledge about the different areas like Hull, Deck and Machinery.- Learnt about the different safety measure and equipments used in time of distress and procedures to follow.- Initially covering the data and types of electrical components used in vessel and also learning about the means of power transfer.- Then into the different types of communication and navigation systems and how these components are repaired.- In mechanical department, learnt about actual process of welding, blasting, surface preparation and painting.- Observed few vessels with one being completely renewed, hull fabrication, deck repair and also disassembly and assembly of a reduction gearbox, even noticed the different components of a six cylinder inline engine.- The most interesting part was repair of a control pitch propeller which was damaged and bent due to some marine reason.- Even observed the contrasting difference between and fully finished engine and deck room while a vessel which was still under work.- Learnt about the docking procedure in the two available dock: a dry dock in which 2 vessels where under work another slipwage dock on which there were about 5 vessels under work.- Noted how the management work is distributed in HR , finance, stores and general; wherein how the parts are ordered, stored and used at different departments.- I was even able to gain experience on how these departments co-related and co-work with each other.- I was even able to talk to different workers their contribution, chief officer, cheif engineer, second engineer; these people gave a useful insight about their life and work in sea.- Also learnt about a lot of repair procedures and methods that the industry was using.
