Architected, developed, and deployed a telemetry solution that streams data from AWS network devices to SDN controllers and monitoring services. This publisher-subscriber-based system replaced and deprecated the decade-old SNMP polling protocol in AWS data centers, resulting in over $5 million in savings over five years. Technologies used: C++, Python, Java.* Engineered a scalable telemetry protocol with streaming capabilities using a publisher-subscriber design pattern, enhancing telemetry collection frequency from 60 seconds to 10 seconds for improved real-time data analysis.* Built core components to ensure reliable telemetry delivery under any network conditions using the gRPC streaming protocol. Implemented features such as periodic and event streaming, rate limiting, data prioritization, authentication, authorization, and encryption in transit.* Executed the deployment of the telemetry solution across all AWS data centers, encompassing 1.6 million network devices, using multi-phased strategies to ensure fleet safety.* Designed and implemented a solution for exporting ad hoc telemetry from network devices, replacing costly SSH-based telemetry collection. This innovation reduced collection frequency from 5 minutes to 30 seconds, resulting in significant cost savings and increased efficiency.* Developed a solution for efficient alarm delivery from network devices, transitioning from regex-based syslog alarming to push-based events with structured messages, facilitating easy consumption and data enrichment in downstream services.* Crafted team roadmaps, coordinated project deliveries, and led a team of six software developers to achieve successful project outcomes. Provided mentorship to junior engineers and interns within the team.
