    As a graduate research assistant in the lab of Jennifer Orthmann-Murphy, I aim to develop a framework for early diagnostics in the blood and brain tissue of patients with a rare, and severely debilitating white matter disorder of the CNS known as CSF1R-related leukoencephalopathy. To do this, I am characterizing circulating monocytes in patient blood samples for a distinct patient phenotype using flow cytometry. I am also evaluating changes in glial cell populations in a mutant CSF1R mouse model using immunostaining and fluorescence microscopy.
