Conducted military, political, technological and economic analysis in naval, weapons systems, industrial base (primarily shipbuilding), climate, energy, and other arenas. Worked with all sectors in strategy development and review, strategic influence campaigns, project and strategic plan review, and red teaming participation, policy analysis, writing, and other support. Represented this $35B Corporation to think tanks, defense community, international conferences, and other communities.

Directed or served as an analyst for numerous studies and authored over 50 CNA reports. Most widely known for work on naval force involvement in contingency operations, the use of 'force without war', and civil-military interaction in post-conflict operations.Deployed as a civilian analyst with military forces for multiple exercises and operations. These included assignments to Operations Desert Shield/Storm (Persian Gulf, 1990/91); Uphold Democracy (Haiti, 1994); an assignment to NATO for Joint Endeavor/Guard (Bosnia, 1996/97) running lessons learned on civil-military cooperation; and with Marine Corps units for Allied Force / Shining Harbor (Adriatic, April-June 1999). Analytical work supporting these operational commands included alternative course of action analysis, amphibious assault planning, threat analysis (for example to a potential combat search and rescue (CSAR) mission into Kosovo), fuel-usage analysis (the work led to Navy-wide planning factor changes), and organizational process dynamics.
