Developed main technical environment for book production and subsequent content distribution via Safari Books Online. Supervised production of hundreds of books. Introduced O’Reilly to Unix FrameMaker, dramatically expanding productivity. Implemented reusable FrameMaker templates for over twenty different book designs, standardizing typographical and information design requirements throughout. Developed batch Perl and shell conversion tools to and from DocBook SGML/XML, Microsoft Word, troff, pod, and HTML, and an extensive set of productivity aids that directly manipulate FrameMaker MIF files. Supervised development of additional FrameMaker API conversion aids. Developed batch PDF tools for both direct-to-plate print and online distribution. Produced numerous books using troff, Microsoft Word, PageMaker, DocBook SGML, and FrameMaker. Supervised production of the quarterly journals The World Wide Web Journal and The X Resource.
