Emma's Torch empower refugees, asylees, and survivors of human trafficking through culinary education. Founded in 2016, our non-profit social enterprise provides top-notch culinary training to refugees and has helped them find meaningful careers in the food industry. We run our classes out of our restaurant in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn.

● Collaborated in the development and launching of an online interprofessional education pilot course for students across all ten health programs at Columbia University.● Assisted teaching in reflective learning and case-study evaluation to prepare students for work in multidisciplinary collaborative teams.

● Assessed needs, conducted mental health intakes, and provided individual and group counseling for elementary school youth.● Collaborates with family members for effective treatment plans.● Coordinates family and community workshops around psychoeducation, health, and wellness.

● Planned, delivered, and evaluated food systems and cooking activities for youth.● Budgeted and prepared food for 100 youth and staff.● Collaborated with urban garden staff for programming and meal preparation.

● Developed partnerships across food banks, cooperative extension offices, master gardeners, and community stakeholders to facilitate low-income community members to grow a portion of their own food in Erie county.● Provided technical and networking support to previous Seed to Supper trained participants in gardening and resource questions. ● Facilitated training sessions to low-income folks in the planning, soil preparation, and maintenance of a garden.

UnifiEd is a community-led movement of parents, teachers, and friends of public schools, united around a shared goal: that every student in Chattanooga will have the opportunity to graduate prepared for a brilliant future. To create a better public education system, we need to be a better public. We believe that if citizens are informed about why education matters, what works in the classroom, and how anyone can help, then we can build better schools. We get involved in education by getting the public involved. Uniting parents, community members, teachers, and elected officials in support of students, so every child in our care has access to the best educational opportunities.The Eichenthal Fellows program was founded in 2013 by David Eichenthal to provide talented college students with experience and exposure to public interest careers. The Fellows program was created for the next generation of public servants to work for some of the best non-profit organizations in Chattanooga and Brooklyn.
