Inclusive Resilience in Somalia (IRiS) is a 5 year program funded by USAID/FCDO . As the MERL Director, my roles include: • Contribute to collaborative, learning and adaptive approach throughout the entire project; design program learning plan, ensure that findings from all monitoring, assessment and survey activities are fed back into the project and disseminated to stakeholders and partners for continuous program adjustments.• Produce thought leadership research pieces based on information gathered from program M&E, learning, and research and analysis activities; both for client based and external consumption.• Oversee and provide quality assurance for short- and long-term research and analysis initiatives requested by USAID, including research contracted out to specialist entities and not necessarily aimed at informing programming.• Remain up-to-date on all USAID directives, regulations and policies relevant Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (MERL) and collaborating, learning, and adapting (CLA) and incorporate these policies and technical approaches into the programming cycle.• Collaborate with USAID and program stakeholders to enable effective data usage through participatory, reflective analysis, and learning approaches.• Ensure efficient coordination with grantees, partners, local authorities, UN/INGOs as relevant.• Lead and oversee entire MERL team, to include direct management of CLA, MEL, communications and Itad sCLA staff, to assure they are trained, coached and provided sufficient tools and resources to use MERL data in management decision-making• Lead the team in leveraging existing knowledge products in order to increase efficiency and effectiveness.

Commercial Agriculture for Smallholders and Agribusinesses (CASA) is a five year programme (2019-2024) funded by DFID to increase economic opportunities for 635,000 SHFs by demonstrating the commercial viability of businesses with significant smallholder supply chains and by attracting more investments. CASA works in Uganda (Beans & Sesame), Malawi (Aquaculture & Poultry) and Nepal (Dairy & vegetables) to support early-stage agribusinesses to prepare for and secure investment and to bring more, poorer smallholders into agribusiness supply chains. As the MRM Lead, my job entails;+ Leading the development of Inclusive Growth Strategies using IM Approach+ Designing MRM systems that are DCED compliant+ Data Management and Quality Assurance+Development of Sector Logics+ Outcome harvesting and results management+ Coordination of report writing

Promoting Inclusive Markets in Somalia (PIMS) was a 4-year (2015-2019) market development programme funded by the Department for International Development (DFID). PIMS worked with private sector players and market actors, "Lead Firms" in Somaliland, Puntland and South-Central Somalia, employing a market systems development approach to stimulate inclusive economic growth, targeting sustainable improvements in market outcomes by altering the incentives that the market as a system provides to participants. The programme supported private entities to leverage private sector finance in the tune of GBP 14 million, 50,000+ Smllaholders increased their net attributable incomes by GBP 28 million & also catalysed the creation of 12, 650 FTE Jobs. Under my leadership, I developed the programme's ToC, Log Frame and DCED compliant MRM Framework alongside the intervention results chains. I also led outcome harvesting missions and annual impact data collection using mobile-based technologies.The robust monitoring systems used enabled the program to score consecutive A, A+, A+ ratings in the 2016/2017/2018 DFID Annual Reviews & the system was rated the best among DFID programmes in Somalia

FSD Kenya is a donor funded Trust (FCDO, Gates, SIDA) whose mandate is to increase access to financial services among low income Kenyans and businesses: As a Research Manager, my roles included:• Identification and prioritization of selected value chains that are considered to have maximum benefits to the poor ; • Functional analysis of the selected value chains and developing appropriate, long term and sustainable upgrading programs within the selected value chains for optimal functionality of the entire chain • Helping the program stakeholders especially the financial institutions to design low risk and high return financial services for the smallholder producers in the agriculture sector• Designing of performance monitoring plans (with indicators fitting into the CDOs of the FtF program) and collaboration, learning and adaptation strategies (CLA strategies)• Leading the design and implementation of panel surveys in collaboration with FSD (FinAcess, on sample of 15,000 respondents) to measure change in financial inclusion in the country.• Monitoring and Evaluation+ general research and data analysis• Impact evaluation (Using contribution Analysis and Outcome Mapping Processes) of financial inclusion services uptake• Data Quality Assurance (DQA) and Activity Ground Verifications• Working on the Terms of References and managing a range of consultants and capacity building of project partners on data management• Developing research tools (questionnaires and FGD guides) and managing in-country studies (from recruitment of field enumerators, piloting the tools, overseeing data collection using mobile technologies and data quality assurance, analysis to reporting)

• Overseeing data collection on research projects on climate change, weather and climate information needs of farmers and fisher forks. • Participated in the development of farmer trainer manuals on the use of weather and climate information for disaster management in collaboration with African Centre for Meteorological Applications on Development and Health and Climate Foundation. • Designing M&E frameworks and log frame for new programs & capacity building of project staff on M&E• Led the team in reviewing the institutional M&E plans and evaluating resilience projects funded by Aga Khan Development Network (AKN) in the coastal region of Kenya.• Capacity building of staff on M&E and data processing Conducting of in depth literature reviews and preparation of reports of completed projects for publication and presentation.

• I led in the coordination of climate change,agriculture and food security program in Kenya,Zambia,Tanzania,Mali and India across a pool of 25,000 beneficiaries • Oversaw the revision of the programs log frame and M&E framework• Monitored the adaptation strategies of the smallholders at farm level (these included adotion of improved crop varieties, planting of trees on farm, intercropping practices and water harvesting)• Drafted progress and quarterly reports• Training field staff on M&E principles, overseeing designing and roll out of mobile based data collection techniques
