I'm a creative soul with a variety of interests and roles! Nothing brings me more joy than serving my community through creative workshops and activities that enhance the lives of those around me. Working part-time across multiple projects allows me to embrace my Neurodivergent traits and thrive in multitasking.Engaging with communities through outreach work has been a fulfilling journey. Leicester is a global majority city and is home to a rich tapestry of communities, and connecting with them has been both enriching and humbling. Meeting new people, networking, and collaborating with them has truly been a blessing. They say it takes a village to raise a child, but it takes a community to truly feel like you belong.My journey began as a seasoned Design Technology teacher, with over 15 years of experience in education. In 2022, driven by a deep commitment to community engagement, I transitioned into the realm of a Multidisciplinary Community Artist.A pivotal moment in this transition was the commission to create the 'I Remember' Jubilee celebrations artwork for Bradgate Park, a testament to my creative vision and artistic abilities. This milestone marked the start of an incredible journey fuelled by a passion for up-cycling and recycling.Over the past two years, I've dedicated myself to curating unique workshop experiences for young individuals and their families. Collaborations with esteemed institutions such as Leicester museums, libraries, Drum and Brass CIC, and Buzzing Roots CIC have been instrumental in crafting innovative programs that enrich community life. One of the highlights during this time was developing a child-centered, trauma-informed approach to engagement, ensuring a nurturing environment for young minds. I also serve as a freelance creative mentor for The Mighty Creatives, using my expertise to support children in need and in care.In 2023, I founded Kala Arts CIC, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at expanding our impact in the community. As the driving force behind Kala Arts, I remain committed to breaking down financial barriers, promoting inclusivity, and fostering a vibrant, creative community. Through this initiative and ongoing mentorship, I strive to embody the values of innovation, compassion, and empowerment, ensuring that art and education flourish hand in hand for the betterment of society.
