Engineer | Project Engineering Manager
Current• Project manager for teams of engineers, designers, and technicians tasked with the design and build of one-of-a-kind proof-of-concept and early development vehicles from initial concept and design to drivable vehicle.• Instituted vehicle project budgets (ranging from $50K–$600K) and established project timing, typically three to six months from initial concept/design to running vehicle.• Designed components, knuckles, control arms, cradles and wheels, powertrain mounts, air induction and exhaust systems, interior consoles and instrument panels, and body structures for quick fabrication by means of CNC machining, stamping, and rapid prototyping (SLS/SLA/3-D printing) when required due to design resource constraints.• Additional Projects Included: New or modified front and/or rear suspension, powertrain development, interior, human vehicle interface, and seating development vehicle.• Released and sourced components for fabrication either in-house or via outside vendors through purchase orders.• Led weekly customer meetings to ensure vehicles built to customer requirements, budget, and timing.• Chaired weekly internal design and integration reviews to ensure design and components met project timing, engineering, material, fabrication, sourcing, and customer requirements (mass, stiffness, etc.).KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS• Built over 40 engineering development vehicles for nine different GM vehicle architectures.• Supervised two to three projects and vehicle builds simultaneously on a regular basis.• US Patent Holder for Extendable Air Control Dam for Vehicle (US 8,100,460 B2).• Obtained Design for Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
