I am currently a Director at Smith Myers Communications. As well as being part the the management team I am head of Software Architecture and lead the software team, which is currently working on our award wining ARTEMIS airborne Search and Rescue system and other radio technology products.I am still very much 'hands on' with the software development. Having worked as a software engineer on turn key hardware and software solutions for 20+ years I have experience with a diverse range of software technologies which include C++, Python, JavaScript, PHP, SQL, Shell, Linux, MySQL, Git, Node.js, React, Redux, HTML and CSS to name a few. Having spent much of the last 20 years working on GSM, UMTS and LTE base station products I also have a deep understanding of cellular and protocols and network infrastructure.

I lead the software team to produce the award winning ARTEMIS software running on the flight qualified Smith Myers software defined radio. Allowing airborne search and rescue crews to locate missing or distressed people via their mobiles phones. This resulted in the company winning several awards including a Royal Aeronautical Society silver medal.As well as leading the team I continued full stack development using C++, JavaScript, Python, Node.js and PHP. I also help developed several test systems for hardware verification using Python, and produced production systems to load specific software configurations onto the hardware prior to delivery.
