Main Duties and Responsibilities:- Lecturing on academic programmes in the School of Medicine, including Evidence Informed Practice of Medicine (EIPOM).- Contributing to scholarly activity through research and knowledge transfer activities.- Undertake course development and course leadership responsibilities.- Leading the design, development and implementation of a range of initiatives and developments, including course/CPD developments within health checks.- Engaging with key stakeholders to promote the recruitment of students onto courses.

Working as a member of the University Centre Shrewsbury/Project Darwin team to develop and delivery of Higher Education provisions by the University of Chester in Shropshire, in partnership with Shropshire Council. I have been responsible for the following:• To establish and lead on the development of a overarching research agenda reflecting a range of social and economic challenges of regional significance but with national and international relevance.• To develop and maintain commercially and reputationally beneficial relationships with key stakeholders in Shropshire, the West Midlands and the UK.• To facilitate the development and delivery of curricula which supports the emerging research agenda of the University of Chester in Shropshire across all research centres.• To lead a team or teams of multi-disciplinary researchers and teaching staff to deliver set objectives for the University of Chester in Shropshire.• Undertake research to standards set in line with the objectives of the research project by identify, adapting and developing appropriate research methodologies and techniques.• To establish and lead on the development of a research ethics committee to ensure high standards of ethical research are conducted by staff and postgraduate students• Member of Liverpool Central NHS ethics committee (Jan 14 – to date).Key tasks undertaken have included: Supporting the opening of a new academic centre with its first intake of post graduate and undergraduate students. The development of relationships with key stakeholders (NHS Trusts, Local Authority, CCG, Third sector organisation). Developing a research agenda and undertaking research with a range of organisations . Delivering research methodology teaching at level 4 and 7.Other work has included an evaluation of Coaching workshop and programmes to Consultants and Junior Doctors; Working to explore third sector professionalism; Delivering health checks in alternative community settings.

Working within the Research Office of the Faculty of Health and Social Care i have been responsible for the following:• Co-ordinate the work of colleagues to ensure project aims and objectives are achieved using appropriate resources and facilities.• Design and implement research projects incorporating both quantitative and qualitative techniques - including interviews, focus groups, case-note analysis and questionnaires.• Facilitate researcher meetings with commissioners’ and steering groups to plan and develop research projects.• Write research reports/publications and disseminate research findings at local and national conferences/seminars.• Develop external networks to identify sources of funding and build relationships for future activities. • Support the development of a research culture across the faculty through the provision of research support and advice around a range of areas, which include bid writing, project costings, research methodologies, and ethical approval.• Member of Liverpool Central NHS ethics committee; Faculty ethics committee member.Key tasks have included:Evaluation, support and the development of integrated community multi-disciplinary team working in Shrewsbury to address the challenges of inappropriate bed occupancy (acute hospital) through collaborative working between health (NHS) and local authority staff (social workers and carers) to promote effective discharge of patients. Other work has included, an evaluation of the ERDF funded Riverside Innovation Centre; an examination of Cerebral Palsy cases on the Wirral; Identification of veteran service provisions (mental health) in Cheshire West & Chester; School Nurse service provision in Cheshire West and Chester; Establishing the effect of Cognitive Stimulation Therapy on both the person with dementia and their carer in association with the Alzheimer’s Society; Building Community Capacity: working with Health Visitors to address current and future public health needs.

As part of the Physical Activity Exercise and Health (PAEH) group within the Research Institute for Sport and Exercise Sciences (RISES) I am required to design and co-ordinate delivery of an active play based intervention programme for fathers/male carers and their pre-school children.As the Research Officer for the Fathers Engagement Project I work in conjunction with Liverpool City Council and the 26 Children’s Centres throughout Liverpool with the aim of conducting a comprehensive evaluation of the project.Key tasks include: - undertake literature reviews on the use of physically active play and physical activity in general to facilitate father/male carer engagement with their pre school children. - develop contacts and collaborate with the project steering group, allied researchers, active play delivery staff, children’s centres and other stakeholders relevant to the project. - conduct an evaluation of the engagement project including physical activity session and parent workshops. - contribute to the writing of scientific research papers.

Reporting directly to the Head of Commissioning for Children and Young People at NHS Western Cheshire (On behalf of West Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group) I was responsible for updating profiles for looked after children in Western Cheshire and Chester, which incorporated extensive data analysis.Additional work included the development of children’s need profiles for the five area partnership boards based on Local Authority social care and education data. All outputs were produced in order to update the Data Observatory Research & Intelligence Collaborative (DORIC) an online resource providing local data and information for the communities of Cheshire and Warrington.

• Chair of Faculty Research Ethics Committee – scrutinizing proposals from staff and post graduate students. Development of committee application and reporting procedures.• Acting programme leader for MSc in Public Health (Sept – Dec 2010).• Design and implement research projects incorporating both quantitative and qualitative techniques - including interviews, focus groups, case-note analysis and questionnaires.• Write research reports/publications and disseminate research findings at local and national conferences/seminars.• Facilitate researcher meetings with commissioners’ and steering groups to plan and develop research projects.• Data management and consultancy advice to external commissioners.• Provision of technical support to research projects in respect of GIS mapping software. Key tasks undertaken have included: the evaluation of NHS community health checks and behaviour change intervention; NHS adult weight management programme; NHS social marketing alcohol campaigns; Primary Care services for the homeless; NHS community alcohol service evaluation and young peoples’ sunbed usage. Other tasks have included the development of an electronic monitoring system for Cheshire Children’s Fund over a three year period; evaluation of Health Living Centres in Cheshire and Halton; Sure Start Children’s Centre satisfaction surveys and evaluation of service programmes.

Promoting corporate events to local and national companies in aid of national charities. Additional work includes contacting potential supporters to fundraise for charities nationwide, where I consistently achieve set targets.
