The programme aimed to use a strong evidence base to support the development and improvement of governance in the sector. It involved an assessment of the extent to which the importance of strong governance is recognised within colleges and charted the impact of FE reforms and governance development to explore how far these help providers operate as independent organisations, responsive to local need. Non-Profit ; Education Management industry October 2005 – Present The focus of the role was on working with policy makers and practitioners to ensure that policies and programmes of adult learning have maximum impact. I did this through a range advocacy, policy, network, project and communications activity.

I worked out of the Economy and Transport team at the LGA. My role involved working to develop and profile the different approaches councils are adopting against the skills and localism agendas. Councils are increasingly taking on a local leadership and co-ordination role within their localities and it is part of my job to explore and capture this.

I worked for the WEA firstly as a Partnerships Manager then Regional Secretary in London. At the WEA I was responsible for a number of initiatives geared to bring about change and improvement. I set up a Cultural Industries Partnership Group and established a one year community radio learning programme. As a member of the WEA Senior Management Team I contributed to the development and implementation of a 'Vision and Values' project and a three year Development Plan

I spent 13 years working in FE, teaching and managing a broad range of vocational and non-vocational programmes.
