Simon project managed and design managed a component of the staging design for the RMS designed 1.6km road and bridge crossing at Termeil. BG&E’s scope was to assess the proposed staging design and add in a conforming Traffic Control Signal (TCS) for the duration of the bridge construction.The time frame was very tight as construction was due to start in January. The TCS design was a critical factor in ensuring the proposed staging design was functional, without it the staging would not work and the RMS would have to reassess how to construct the project.Simon successfully delivered the project on time, on budget and was recognised by the RMS project manager Matthew Dawson with this feedback: “Thanks again for your work on this project. Although only small in scope, I feel that BG+E have delivered high quality work within some rather tight timeframes which is very much appreciated to allow progression on the project for RMS.” Show less

The project won 2013’s RMS’s Project of the Year and Engineers Australia Excellence award.Tintenbar to Ewingsdale (AUD 780 million) – Byron Bay, NSW, Australia - Lead DesignerSimon Lead the Bangalow Interchange (Central Zone) for the 17km dual carriageway Pacific Highway Upgrade detailed design. The Bangalow Interchange included 4.5kms of main line, seven bridges, one interchange and numerous access roads, intersection upgrades to the existing Pacific Highway and sections of deep cut and fill which required retaining walls. The tender design contained six non-compliant design areas in the Bangalow Interchange zone, compliant design solutions were deemed “too hard” to find through the tender period. Simon was appointed to this zone to design solutions for these constrained areas and to bring the tender design up to detailed design machine guidance quality. His work in finding “outside the box” solutions has won him a project award.Professional Growth Network (PGN) – Regional Board member.
