Simon has worked in the education of autistic young people for the last 25 years and has focussed on Post 16 education for the last twenty. He has set up autistic specific post-16 provisions in both Surrey and London, designing curriculums to meet individual learner’s needs.Simon started his career as classroom support, before becoming a teacher, curriculum lead and head of curriculum, and then moving on to his current role as Assistant Principal for Curriculum at Ambitious College in London. Simon also oversees the DFN Project Search Internship at the Whittington Hospital in North London. He is enthusiastic about designing curricula that provide meaningful outcomes for complex learners through teaching in realistic settings.In the last few years Quality of Life, and how it can be central to a curriculum with measurable outcomes, has become the focus of his work; Leading on ‘The Ambitious Approach’ a person centred way of working with young people to nurture their skills and interests, while giving them the skills they need to lead an engaging and meaningful life post college.
