Coordinate with the Staffordshire Police Estates commissioner on the implementation of new building projectsCommercial Management - Developing and maintaining relationships with the client, and to ensure that all facilities management activities meet their key aims and objectives.

I am a British Institute of facilities Management (BIFM) qualified FM Manager. My current role is based within the Estates and Facilities Department of Staffordshire Police. In my role as Facilities Manager I manage over 40 premises and have responsibility for 14 staff. My responsibilities include:• Financial forecasting/budgeting for both revenue and capital budgets• Planning and overseeing building work/renovation• Project planning and management of Capital and planned works.• Allocating and managing space within buildings• Auditing and benchmarking of building and assets • Policy writing e.g. water hygiene policy etc.• Maintaining the estates management database• Coordinating planned building maintenance and operational activities• Ensuring that facilities meet government regulations and environmental, health and security standards e.g. fixed electrical testing, water hygiene testing, air conditioning, lifts, UPS • Managing multi-disciplinary teams of staff including contracts, energy management, customer services, security and post room, • Energy Management – Responsibility to reduce the Force’s energy costs. Being innovative and introducing new energy efficient technologies such as LED lighting, solar hot water, insulation of buildings, voltage optimisation, building management systems and implementing new boiler replacements. • Responsibity for managing the CRC (Carbon Reduction Commitment) submission for the Force• Contract Management of hard and soft services– Including negotiation with suppliers, writing tender specifications, procurement of new contracts & contract monitoring.
