I have worked in indirect tax for the past 30 years.Initially I joined HMC&E as an excise and inland customs officer. Whilst this involved dealing with the whole range of excise and customs duty issues I specialised in excise duty on hydrocarbon oils.In 1991 I became a VAT Senior Office as part of Multifunctional Oils Team with responsibility for the collection of all indirect taxes from a number of multinational oil companies. Whilst part of this team I led a Multinational Indirect Tax Experiment sponsored by the European Commission.In 1997 I moved to KPMG where initially I was involved in providing VAT advice to a wide range of businesses both in the UK and overseas. In 2001 I undertook a six month secondment to a global automotive manufacture as part of its UK tax team.I know specialise in providing indirect tax advice to the automotive sector, which includes manufactures, NSC's, dealer groups, finance companies, Tier 1 suppliers and after sales companies.Although I work from KPMG's Gatwick office I provide advice to business throughout the UK and to overseas businesses.Specialties: VAT issues in the automotive sector.VAT issues in the transport and freight transport sector.Indirect tax issues in the oil sectorSystem process reviewsVAT issues affecting mergers and acquisitions
