Subcontracts Manager for Balfour Beatty Rail including Burst RailManaging subcontracts throughout the UK including UK Projects and Burst Rail which requires good time management skills, and effective communication. I have to react quickly under pressure of short time scales whilst adhering to some of the company standards and systems and have learnt to organise and prioritise my workload. Assist with project handovers, attend and contribute to meetings with Senior Management and assist the Commercial Teams with subcontract reviews. Within this role I have also assisted with formal presentations and carried out Commercial Skills awareness training for both existing Commercial Project Teams and undergraduates. I have very good supervisory skills and am involved in management of staff within the Subcontract Procurement Team.

I am currently working within the Subcontract Procurement Team dealing with issues as described below but also undertaking the management of the Subcontract Procurement Team after the retirement of the Subcontract Manager. Managing subcontracts throughout the UK requires good time management skills, and effective communication. I have to react quickly under pressure of short time scales whilst adhering to company standards and systems and have learnt to organise and prioritise my workload. I work alongside the Tender and Estimating Team, assist with project handovers, attend and contribute to meetings with Senior Management and assist the Commercial Teams with subcontract reviews. Within this role I have also assisted with formal presentations and carried out Commercial Skills awareness training for both existing Commercial Project Teams and undergraduates. I have very good supervisory skills and am involved in management of staff within the Subcontract Procurement Team.I have also been heavily involved within Performance Monitoring of all Subcontractors for Balfour Beatty Rail and have helped develop a new performance monitoring matrix which helps manage all key subcontractors used across the business. I also attend regular meetings which include the Labour Resource Meeting and the Managing Directors Forum to help promote the development of the Performance Monitoring exercise (undertaken on an eight week rolling basis) which in turn has forged good working relationships with both the Commercial and Operations Teams over the last 18 months.

I worked as part of the Commercial Team for the Trent Valley 4 Tracking Re-signalling Project, my duties involved effective commercial management of subcontractors out on site; initiating contracts and agreeing terms and conditions. I managed the payment of subcontract applications for the project using the Balfour Beatty Coins System. I was also involved in helping the Commercial Management of the project in terms of programme and implementation of works out on track.

I worked as part of the Subcontract Procurement Team dealing with all subcontract commercial issues for projects including Metronet, Track Unit and Terminal Five - Heathrow Airport. My position included the review of industry standard forms of contract, as well as Balfour Beatty Forms of subcontract with regular contact with Balfour Beatty site personnel and required sound communication and good negotiation skills.

I worked as part of the West Coast Mad line Re-modernisation Project dealing with Commercial Delivery Team issues. My position meant that I had regular contact with clients, and learnt the need to develop sound communication skills and create good team relationships with not only representatives of our current client but also peers with rears. I began initially at the company as a whilst carrying out my Business Degree, which provided a foundation in administration and initiated my interest in Quantity Surveying and Commercial management. Following promotion to Assistant Quantity Surveyor, I developed a solid grounding in the basics of quantity surveying and relevant commercial issues within the Rail Industry.

Within this favourite position I worked efficiently as part of a team which co-ordinated the daily running of the engineering workshop. I began initially at the company as an Accounts Clerk, as part of my NVQ training through the Chamber of Commerce.
